We have a new programme of rides that will take place each Tuesday morning from 10.00 am, starting on 6 October 2026 and going up to 29 December 2026. Please click the link ProgOct26 (also at the bottom of this page) for the full details of the programme.  

If you would like to join a ride, please click the Contact link and your request will be passed to the leader so a place can be kept for you in one of the groups of participants. We also have a ‘WhatsApp’ group for riders to keep in touch and add their names to a forthcoming ride list.

When joining our rides we ask riders to wear a helmet, wear appropriate clothing and to ensure riders carry a bottle of water, a pump, puncture repair kit and bike lock.

These are gentle, social rides at the pace of between 8 to 10 mph with a refreshment stop along the way. We use residential roads, some busier roads, tracks and canal towpaths and aim to enable members to get to know their local environment whilst enjoying the physical activity of cycling. Electric bikes are welcome ….. but please don’t leave the leaders behind!

Most of the routes will be local and can either be cycled to or be car-assisted. 

The cycling group had a mixed quarter of autumn rides varying in length from 7.5 miles to 13 miles in a variety of locations. This quarter our rides will be a bit shorter and not too far afield as weather conditions may affect our rides and all will include refreshment stops at cafe's along our routes.

 The autumn programme includes mostly locally-based rides. With the popularity of our Tuesday rides, we have made a 'cut-off' of 21 riders split into 3 groups to maintain safety and to have sufficient sub-leaders and support riders.  Riders wishing to attend need to register on our 'Biking Group23' WhatsApp Group with their message or by the weekly 'poll' by 12.30 pm on the Monday prior to the ride.

Generally, we have around 8 people per group and if the route is off-road increasing to 10 riders.

From April 2025 to end of September 2026 we did a total of 25 rides with 309 attendances.
