IT’S HERE IN STOURBRIDGE - NOW YOU HAS JAZZ!!
2026 IS GOING TO BE GREAT
WITH THE BEST BEATS IN TOWN
IF YOU ENJOY GOOD TIME MUSIC COME AND JOIN US
On the 2nd Wednesday afternoon in the month from 2.00pm until 4.00pm
you are invited to :
The Basement Jazz at the home of Sheila Dixon.
Every month we choose a different theme and everyone is encouraged to bring along a cd. Or we have Bluetooth for streamers. We even have a good old record player for your 78s or 33 and a thirds or tape facility, yes we’re that crusty!!
If you can tell the group some history behind the artists or the recording that would be really good too. We appreciate every kind of Jazz from the earliest New Orleans recordings through Swing and Be bop to the latest modern styles. All are welcome.
We also have a wide screen facility for Jazz DVDs.
Last year we enjoyed "Jazz on a Summers Day" and "Born to be Blue" a biopic of Chet Baker. For the Spring and Summer we will re-visit DVDs including a Vintage Collection with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday and Theolonius Monk, an excellent Chris Barber "From the Land of Dreams", some Ella Fitzgerald from the Montreux Jazz Festival, an historic Art Blakey recorded in Belgium and great Dave Brubeck with two versions of his classic Take 5. or if you have some of your own and want to see them big screen now's your chance.
There is a break of 15 - 20 mins for tea/coffee and biscuits.
Please click on the Contact link on this page if you require any further information or wish to join us.
Some of us visit other Jazz Venues throughout the year. There is the monthly Jazz Scene at The Bonded Warehouse, Birmingham Jazz Club at the Jewellery Quarter, Upton on Severn in June, the Swan at Chaddesley Corbett and during the Winter months jazz and dancing at Halesowen Cricket Club are just a few of the places we visit.
Why not come and join this friendly group for a great afternoon of good music.
